Crazy Hair Day

On Friday 25th May, students came along to school with the craziest hair you can imagine to help a student on her mission to raise supplies for Dog Rescue Newcastle (DRN).
Instead of a gold coin donation, Tanna  requested that you just bring in something for the puppies. Tinned puppy food, puppy milk, treats, toys, old sheets or towels, dry puppy food etc.
Tanna works closely with DRN not only bottle feeding the puppies, but also training them, socialising them and playing with them. Everyone who works for DRN is simply a volunteer and they pay to keep these puppies happy and healthy until they find their forever homes. For the entire month of May, this student will be donating all of her pocket money to DRN to help get even more supplies.

You can still bring in your donations till the end of the month.

This is what came in today. Thank you so much.

School Uniform

Cardiff North Public School children are very proud of their school.  Part of this pride is reflected in their desire to wear their new school uniform. There have been some questions raised by parents regarding the phasing out of our old uniforms. It is anticipated that by the end of this year, the whole school will be in the new uniforms. I have included a list of the uniform items with this Bulletin, including the items being phased out this year and their replacements. Also just a reminder to please label your child’s jumpers so we can return them promptly to their class if they leave them around the school. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions regarding the uniform.

Zone Cross Country

Cross CountryLast Friday, Mr Piggott and Mrs Savage took the Cross Country team to Federal Park to compete in the Crossroads Zone Cross Country Carnival. The Crossroads Zone is made up of 17 primary schools from our area. The students all performed to the best of their ability and proudly represented the school.
A special mention to Braydon , who came first in the 10 year boys event; Marcus who came first in the 8/9 year old boys and Asamoah , who came third in the 11 year boys. These three boys will be off to represent our zone at the regional carnival.     – Mr Piggott

Next time you visit the office you will see a new payments letterbox. All notes, permission slips and monies coming to the office can now be placed securely into this letterbox. Please ensure that money is placed into a labelled envelope or zip-lock bag.

What’s been keeping our staff busy?

Our staff development day this term was held at Cardiff High School. We joined 6 other schools from the Cardiff Community of Schools and over 160 staff members for the day. Staff enjoyed presentations by Dr Bob Wheway, a STEM expert from the University of Wollongong. Then a presentation on Effective Instruction from Toni-Hatten Roberts from the “Good to Great Schools” team. Our new Director, Louise Gallagher spoke about her new role and how supportive she would be in helping us achieve excellence in our schools. At the end of the day we were fortunate to have Anh Do, the author, actor, comedian and artist present his life story for us. He was extremely inspirational, having an amazing, positive outlook on life.

Our school leaders hosted our ANZAC Day Service on Thursday at 10am . Many special guests joined us to help us pay our respects. Thank you to the families who donated some garden flowers. which were made into posies for selected students to lay as part of our service.
