About Our School

Cardiff North Public School
‘Success through Endeavour’
Cardiff North Public School was officially opened in 1957. The school lies on Wansbeck Valley Road in the Newcastle suburb of Cardiff. The school boasts extensive playing areas, native gardens and plenty of all-weather playing surfaces. The school is officially recognised as a “Sunsmart School” by the NSW Cancer Council due to our policies and extensive shade areas of leafy trees and gardens.

We like to think of our school as a “learning community”, where parental involvement is both welcomed and encouraged, and organisations form around our area are invited to contribute in any way possible to the overall education and enjoyment of our children.

We cater for students form Kindergarten to Year 6 and besides the six key learning areas of English, Maths, Science and Technology, Human Society and it’s Environment, Creative and Practical Arts and Personal Development/Health/Physical Education, we offer a strong program in the use of technology and ICT plus an extensive set of environmental education initiatives and programs. The children are well-catered for in the area of sports, with both competitive and non-competitive activities being constantly offered to the children.

Our dedicated, experienced staff have a real focus on continuous improvement in outcomes and experiences for our students and are constantly updating their skills. Support staff are thoroughly professional and likewise focussed on providing a quality service to our students and parents.

During the year, our students participate in many and varied activities such as chess competitions, debating, public speaking, garden club, Peer Support, Kinder Buddies, Young Leaders Day, parliament, Premier’s Reading, Sporting and Spelling Challenges, gross motor and Dance 2 B Fit programs as well as various visits and performances that compliment class programs. The list goes on.

Excursions and experiences outside the classroom are planned across all grades each year to assist in engaging the students and improving outcomes.

Staff, students and parents have combined to develop, the school’s ‘good discipline, effective learning’ policy where we believe that we should: show respect, be positive, be fair, be responsible, respect the environment and work to improve those things we can change.

We are very proud of our students and indeed our entire school, where your child is treated as an individual and is welcomed as part, of the Cardiff North Public School’s ‘family’, where our mission statement is “at Cardiff North, students are to reach their full potential through pupil, teacher and community endeavours”.
