NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. CNPS are celebrating NAIDOC week this week and have started off by having a morning assembly to open our week of celebrations. Yesterday infants enjoyed leaf painting while primary students learnt how to weave. Their wonderful artwork will be on display next term. For the remainder of the week, students will be listening to dreaming stories, enjoying the Cardiff High School Aboriginal Dance Group at assembly tomorrow and an out of uniform day (red, black and yellow clothes) on Friday. Our disco on Thursday evening has a colour theme of red, yellow and black, to match the Aboriginal flag colours. (This is optional). We will finish off our week of celebrations with a complimentary sausage sizzle on Friday at lunch time.
A huge thank you to Mr Lindsay for organising this for our school.
